Algeria urges \'self-control\' by Egyptian parties

Algeria is deeply concerned about the situation in Egypt, Algerian Foreign Ministry spokesman Amar Belani said Tuesday. \"We urge all parties in Egypt to show self-control to ward off the specter of violence that threatens the stability and security in this brotherly country,\" APS news agency quoted Belani as saying. \"We strongly encourage them to work resolutely for a peaceful transition based on finding a consensual and lasting settlement to the current crisis,\" the spokesman said. Since the ouster of Egyptian Islamist President Mohamed Morsi, clashes between his supporters and antagonists have intensified, leaving dozens killed and hundreds injured.
