Algeria’s Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci on Thursday, met with the UN Secretary General’s special envoy to African Sahel, Romano Prodi, who is currently visiting Algiers. Algerian official news agency (APS) reported that Prodi’s main tasks are to coordinate the UN efforts for drawing and implementing an integrated strategy for the African Sahel and finding a viable solution for the crisis affecting the peoples and countries of the region. The UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy also seeks to coordinate the international efforts supporting the Sahel countries in resolving these crises , including the one in Mali.
