ALP\'s primary vote slumps

Australian Labor Party\'s primary vote has fallen below 30 per cent for the first time in almost a year, The latest Nielsen poll showed on Monday.According to the result of 1400 voters, taken from Thursday to Saturday night , Labor\'s primary vote has slipped 2 percentage points to 29 per cent, the lowest since June last year. And the Coalition\'s primary vote rose 2 points to 49 per cent.As a result, the Coalition now leads Labor on a two-party preferred basis by 57 per cent to 43 per cent, an increase of 2 points since last month\'s poll.Local media said this represents a seven-point swing towards the Coalition since the August, 2010 federal election. If repeated at this year\'s election and if the swing were uniform, Labor would lose 30 seats, leaving it with just 42 seats in the House of Representatives.
