Kuwaiti Ambassador to Mexico Sameeh Johar Hayat met on Friday with former Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari to discuss arrangements for the latter\'s upcoming visit to Kuwait. The former Mexican President will head a high-ranking delegation of businessmen and representatives of the biggest Mexican corporations. The Kuwaiti ambassador stressed on the importance of such a visit because it will be an opportunity to express appreciation for Mexico\'s stance in 1990 and its support of international legislations that contributed in liberating Kuwait from the Iraqi aggression back then. The visit would also emphasize the high level of relations between the two countries that could be deepened even further, Hayat noted. For his part, De Gortari stressed that his country\'s support to Kuwait in 1990 stemmed out of Mexico\'s belief in respecting the sovereignty and stability of the state of Kuwait. He recalled Kuwait\'s humanitarian and political support of all international events. He also brought to mind the strong friendship he had with the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.De Gortari thanked the Kuwaiti envoy for calling on him at his office and expressed anticipation for his upcoming visit to the gulf country.
