Ambassador hosts banquet for Kuwaiti diplomats at UNGA session

Ambassador of the State of Kuwait Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi hosted a banquet Wednesday evening for Kuwaiti diplomat who took part in the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), and said their help was instrumental to the country\'s mission at the international organization for the duration of the three-month session.In remarks after the banquet, the ambassador told KUNA the mission succeeded in realizing objectives set by senior Foreign Ministry officials, topped by training diplomats according to well-thought programs, either before or after their appointment at Kuwaiti missions abroad, and gaining experience through participation at the UNGA session.He said the Kuwaiti mission\'s performance was most satisfactory throughout the three months, attending and taking part in hundreds of meetings, official and other.The diplomats had addressed the UNGA committees representing Kuwait and prepared detailed reports on committees\' activities. This was in addition to reports they have compiled on regional dossiers including Iran\'s nuclear program and on state of affairs in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Somalia, and Sudan. There were also reports on challenges facing the international community as a whole such as climate change, development concerns, and the global financial crisis.The Kuwaiti diplomats, he said, showed commitment and diligence, and eagerness to best represent their homeland, \"and we wish them success in their careers in the future.\" The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry sends a host of diplomats to take part in the UNGA and take part in other UN activities along with members of the permanent mission, comprising 13 this year.First Secretary at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Mongolia Ahmad Abderrahman Al-Shreim, one of those assigned to attend UNGA functions this year, told KUNA taking part in the session activities deepens understanding of issues on the agendas of the different committees. The Kuwaiti mission to the UN, and the Ambassador, play an important role in this training, he noted, adding a belief it is wise that all diplomats are given an opportunity to best understand the UN and its activities before they actually serve at an embassy.On behalf of the participants this year, Al-Shreim expressed appreciation to the Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister, the Undersecretary, Ambassador Al-Otaibi, and all Kuwaiti diplomats stationed at the UN, New York.In addition to Al-Shreim, the delegation includes Hamad Ibrahim Al-Salloum from the Embassy in Hungaria, Bader Nasser Al-Sager from the embassy in Chile, Bader Ali Al-Adwani from the embassy in Mexico.From the Foreign Ministry, the team included Ahmad Mubarak Al-Amiri, Ahmad Dhaif Al-Shimmiri, Abdelaziz Al-Zaid, Abdelwahhab Al-Rashed, Haydar Aboul Hassan, and Abdallah Al-Sharrah. The team also included ministry media researchers Elaf Mahmoud Rizouqi and Eman Ahmad Al-Shaaban.
