Annan receives Syrian response, still ‘has questions’

The UN and Arab League envoy Kofi Annan confirmed on Wednesday he has received a response from the Syrian government to his “concrete“ proposals on ways to settle the crisis in that country. But Annan still “has questions and is seeking answers,\" his spokesman said in a statement. The envoy also stressed that “this crisis cannot be allowed to drag on.” Annan met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus over the weekend.
