Anti-Taliban leader killed in NW Pakistan

A car bomb attack in northwest Pakistan has killed an anti-Taliban tribal leader and left two others injured, the Pakistani police say. Hashim Khan, the head of a pro-government "peace committee,” was killed when a time bomb planted in his car went off Wednesday, The Indian Express reported. Two of Khan's colleagues, who were accompanying him, were also wounded in the attack. The explosion occurred in the city of Hangu in Pakistan's Orakzai Agency. Orakzai is one of seven semi-autonomous tribal regions in northwest Pakistan. The area is known to be a breeding ground of militancy. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
