Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil al-Arabi headed to New York on Thursday morning for a several days’ visit during which he will take part in the 67th Session of the UN General Assembly meetings. The the 67th Session of the UNGA, is being held under the theme strengthening the peaceful settlement of international disputes, with participation of a large number of heads of states and governments. The Arab League chief will also take part in a number of important meetings, including a summit on the situation in Somalia, a summit on the Great Lakes, the rule of law at the national and international levels and a summit on peace-building in a post-conflict stage. The General Assembly is also scheduled to discuss the dialogue of civilizations in all its dimensions. The periodic meetings of the Arab and African groups, the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the G77 will also be held.
