Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Al-Araby called here on Wednesday for more efforts to ease out the sufferings of Syrian refugees. He said at the Pledging Conference for Syria held here in Kuwait that the Arab League would attach a top priority to an UN refugee agency response plan document for Syria set out by 100 national and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs). This significant document will help in the alleviation of growing social and economic pressure on Arab countries which host Syrian refugees, he said. He called on donor countries to continue providing humanitarian aid to neighboring countries with a view to easing out their refugee-hosting burdens. Al-Araby also reiterated the league's support for initiatives by the UNICEF and the UN refugee agency for protecting Syrian children. On his part, Bahraini Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ghanim Al-Buainain called for concerted efforts to be exerted to put an end to the sufferings of Syrian refugees. He voiced hope that international efforts to halt the ongoing conflict in Syria would work out soon.
