The Arab League's Secretary-General, Dr. Nabil Al-Arabi, has issued a statement today (Thursday January 31, 2013) in which the Arab League has condemned the brutal Israeli attack in Damascus suburbs targeting an academic researcg center, killing two Syrian citizens, wounding several others and demolishing the facilities and its ancillaries. Dr. Al-Arabi denounced the blatant Israeli air raid which breached the territorial integrity of an Arab country and violated the UN and international laws and conventions and pertinent UN Security Council resolutions. Dr. Al-Arabi urged the international community to bear its responsibility and to halt Israeli offensives against Arab countries, describing the silence of the international community in the face of Israeli bombardment of Syrian targets in the past as an encouragement to launch this new callous offensive exploiting the already deteriorating security situation in Syria. The Arab League's Secretary-General, Dr. Nabil Al-Arabi, has accentuated that Israel bears full responsibility for the outcome of its onslaught and that Syria has the right to defend its territorial integrity and to claim full indemnification for human and material losses incurred as a result of the Israeli transgression.
