Vice President of the Arab Parliament Dr Aisha Al Mannai has said she will do her best to advance the role of Arab Parliament in achieving the aspirations of the people in the region who aspire to see change and democratic reforms. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA) correspondent in Cairo, Dr Al Mannai said: \"I am grateful to Arab Parliament members who nominated me to assume the position of Vice President and to become the first Arab woman to occupy this post. I will do my best to promote the role the parliament by collaborating with my colleagues to reach this end.\" She also stressed on the continuous Qatari efforts to back joint Arab action and Arab Parliament in particular, pointing out that Qatar has been in the forefront of extending support to the joint Arab action and to the region\'\'s social, economic and political affairs. Dr Al Mannai also underlined the importance of resolution taken by the Arab Parliament with regard to Syria and Yemen, adding that these resolutions will be referred to Arab League Secretary General who will refer them to the Council of Arab League. She added that the Arab Parliament\'\'s final communique\'\' stressed on the need to continue Arab efforts in support of draught-hit Somalia, saying that Arab Parliament will send a convoy to Somalia to examine the situation there and present the assistance required. The communique\'\', she said, also addressed the necessity to mobilize international efforts to recognize the Palestinian state at the UN this month, underscoring the support of Arab Parliament to the Palestinian cause and its keenness to dispatch convoys to the Gaza Strip and demonstrate the Parliament support to them, in addition to that of Qatar which has always been backing them and has provided its support through the Arab Parliament to Gaza.
