Armed terrorist groups in Syria have attacked a health center in the western city of Latakia despite a ceasefire brokered by UN-Arab League peace envoy Kofi Annan. No casualties were reported in the attack on the center located in Qneinas district, Syrian Arab News Agency reported on Saturday. On Saturday, the armed groups launched rocket attacks on al-Zahra neighborhood in the restive city of Homs, killing at least one civilian and injuring a dozen more. According to Syrian media, the anti-government armed groups were "intensifying criminal operations in an attempt to destabilize Syria and torpedo the [Annan] plan." Syria has been experiencing the unrest since mid-March 2011. The violence has claimed the lives of thousands of people, including security forces. Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, asserting that it is being orchestrated from abroad. The West and the Syrian opposition, however, accuse the government of killing protesters.
