Army officer injured in gunmen attack in Baghdad

An Iraqi army officer was injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on his vehicle south Baghdad on Sunday. Police sources said that the gunmen shot at the Defense Ministry colonel Abdullah Hamadi leaving him severely injured and killing his brother who had been riding in the same vehicle. Meanwhile, four Iraqi civilians have been injured in a blast caused by an explosive device in al-Athameya area near Nazem El Tabkagli arena in Baghdad. A police source said that the explosion had also damaged some nearby properties and vehicles.
