Army rejects spy chief’s Arab leaders meet report

Pakistan army on Wednesday denied meeting of chief of Pakistan’s top spy agency with Arab leaders to oust President Zardari\'s Government as claimed by an article published in western media. The army clarified that Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lt. General Ahmad Shuja did not meet any Arab leader in between 1 to 9 May 2011 as mentioned in the article. A statement issued by army said that DG ISI’s other visits to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UAE only, prior to or after this period, were part of routine intelligence sharing activities, during which he interacted with his counterparts, only. “The story has been published without verification at any level,” it said. “Contents of the article are strongly and categorically denied. A legal notice is being served to the newspaper to retract the story and apologize,” said the statement.
