Ashton expresses concern over arrest of Egyptian activist

EU High Representative Catherine Ashton Monday expressed concern about detention on Friday at the Cairo airport of Ahmed Maher, leader of the April 6 Movement. "His arrest, coming after the detention and prosecution of other April 6 members, civil society activists and media professionals, is a worrying development in the context of the democratic transition in the country," said Michael Mann, spokesman for Ashton, in a statement. Ashton called on all parties involved in the transition to put the emphasis on dialogue, tolerance and an inclusive process that could lead to the stability in Egypt
