A military attack on Iran would mean the end of the Zionist regime, a former prominent lawmaker of Germany\'s opposition party The Left (Die Linke) wrote Thursday in an editorial for the Berlin-based daily junge welt. Norman Paech stressed a war against Iran could be \'the demise of Zionist Israel.\' Hailing Iran as \'the last anti-American bastion in the Middle East,\' Paech pointed to a US secret service study dating back to February 12, 2009 in which it warned of a collapse of the Zionist regime within 20 years, if the illegal Jewish state continues its warmongering policies in the region. A renowned international law expert in Germany, Paech lambasted the US for its support of the \'criminal activities\' of the Zionist regime. He added Israel was increasingly showing \'symptoms of a failed state.\' Facing the wrath of Germany\'s powerful Zionist lobby, Paech has been a fierce critic of the Zionist regime, warning against the \'irresponsible\' policies of the Netanyahu government. Meanwhile, Paech has also time and again reiterated on Iran\'s right to have civilian nuclear energy amid western bullying tactics. The former foreign policy spokesman of The Left parliamentary faction has repeatedly made clear that US-led western efforts to halt Iran\'s uranium enrichment program were in fact violating international law. Paech has also emphasized Iran\'s enriched uranium program was under \'the full control of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).\'
