AU Peace Security Council calls on Sudan, south Sudan not to abandon peace path

The Peace and Security Council of the African Union has called on the governments of both Sudan and South Sudan not to abandon the path of peace and to be committed to the implementation of the matrix signed between the two countries. The head of the delegation of the council, currently visiting South Darfur, has asserted the importance of joint efforts to achieve peace in Darfur, saying that the armed movements are spoiling valuable opportunities for achieving peace. In the framework of its tour in Darfur Tuesday, the council delegation held meeting with the government of South Darfur in Nyala. The head of the delegation said that violence and arms will not lead to achieving the aspirations of the people of Darfur. He pointing out that negotiation is the sole means for reading durable. He indicated there are no other means than convincing the movements to sit for negotiations, and then they will discover that they have wasted precious time in killing their people\'s aspirations. He said that their visit aims to witnessing on the ground the security and humanitarian situation and the UNAMID efforts for achieving peace. Meanwhile, he expressed his dissatisfaction over the existence of thousands of the children in the displaced camps. On his part, the Wali (governor) of South Darfur State, Hamad Ismail, called on the Peace and Security Council of the African Union to continue carrying out its role in achieving peace in Darfur, indicating that the peace issue and peaceful neighborhood with the state of South Sudan is a common concern.
