Australia\'s Muslim leaders call for peace after violent protest in Sydney

Australia's Muslim community leaders have called for people to stop protesting after Saturday' s violent protest in Sydney central business district (CBD), local media reported Tuesday. Speaking at a media conference at Lakemba Mosque in Sydney on Tuesday, Silma Ihram, a board member of the Australian Muslim Women's Association, said that protesting was a right for everyone, including women and children, but such events had to be properly controlled in the future. "We've seen enough. This film is not worth it. What they are doing is counterproductive," she said. Lebanese Muslim Association President Samier Dandan told the conference that the actions of a very small minority should not be used to tarnish the reputation of the whole community. "We call upon all Muslim religious leaders to address the incident in their sermons this coming Friday, calling for calm in line with the greater legacy of our beloved Prophet Mohammed," he said .
