The kingdom of Bahrain has considered the UN General Assembly’s resolution to upgrade the status of Palestine at the UN as a non-Member Observer State as a historic achievement that paves the way for enabling the Palestinian people to regain its legitimate rights and the right step towards ensuring the success of the Middle East Peace Process that leads to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. The Kingdom congratulated the brotherly Palestinian people on such a historic achievement, crediting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for such a remarkable diplomatic success through which the legitimacy of the Palestinian state was affirmed. Bahrain stressed the importance of stepping up international efforts aiming to work out a peaceful and urgent settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through negotiations, reiterating its continuous support for the Palestinian efforts to end Israeli occupations and establish a fully sovereign state on the borders of June 4, 1967.
