Bahraini cabinet briefed on projects as implementation reaches 70%

A report referred to the Cabinet on Sunday said that 902 projects, from 38 ministries and government institutions, had been registered between the years 2011-2014, with an increase of 187 projects for the year 2013-2014. The report presented t the weekly cabinet session chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister, also showed that the overall percentage of projects completed increased steadily, reaching 70% in the third quarter of 2013. The report praised the efforts of several ministries and government institutions for the adoption of performance indicators, and called upon all other government apparatuses to follow suit, Sameera Bin Rajab, the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and the spokesperson for the Government, said following the session. The Cabinet decided to refer the report to the Ministerial Committee concerned with implementation of the government program for further review. The Cabinet discussed the memorandum presented by the Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy President of the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs concerning the Draft Decree on the Adoption of Rules Regulating Labour Fund Investments. The Draft Decree consists of the procedural steps for Labour Fund investments, including general investment rules, types and categories approved for investment, banned investments, as well as the management of investment and the duties and responsibilities of the investment committee. The Cabinet decided to refer the matter to the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs for further review, the spokesperson said. The Cabinet also discussed the memorandum presented by the Minister of State for Follow-Up Affairs on the implementation of the government program for the years 2011-2014. The memorandum presented by the Minister of Industry and Commerce on Jewellery Arabia was reviewed by the Cabinet. Jewellery Arabia is one of the largest exhibitions in the Middle East and a major supporter of the exhibition industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It helps local traders promote and develop their activities, and also contributes to enhancing the relationship between them and the exhibition visitors as well as with the participants coming from all over the world. The Spokesperson said that the 22nd edition of Jewellery Arabia would be held on November 19-23 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre. The Cabinet also discussed the Memorandum presented by the Minister of Labour concerning the outcomes of the 319th Session of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organization, held in Geneva on October 17-31. The Kingdom of Bahrain’s participation in this periodical Session was to emphasize coordination with the International Labour Organization in regards to mutual interests. It also aimed to emphasize the support of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the three parties of production as per the national laws and legislations.
