The Minister of Interior, Lt. General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, stressed the Kingdom of Bahrain celebrating the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9 comes from the kingdom's determination to fight the negative effects of corruption on social and economic security. The Interior Minister pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain is among those countries which have realized the negative effects of corruption, as came in HM the King's reforms, where Bahrain has occupied an advanced position at the level of the Arab countries in fighting corruption, thanks to adopting principles of integrity, transparency, updating legislations and regulations and creating specialized managements to raise the organizational level of the Interior Ministry's management on combating economic and electronic crimes and corruption. He noted the adoption of a national strategy to combat corruption, including the development of national policies, legislations and implementation measures for the application of law and the promotion of international cooperation in order to eliminate corruption and maintenance of public money as well as the creation of a suitable environment to enhance development process. He underscored the importance of cooperation among the legislative, judicial and executive powers, National Audit Office, Civil Service Bureau, the public prosecution, civil society and the media to combat corruption and reinforce probity and transparency, adding fighting corruption is not only the Interior Ministry's responsibility, but it is a national responsibility concerns all. He highlighted the ratification of the Kingdom of Bahrain on the UN Convention against Corruption under Law No. (7) of 2010, which is the cornerstone of updating and establishing new legislations in the field of anti-corruption crimes. The Interior Minister hailed the citizens' cooperative efforts strengthening community partnership in combating corruption in all its forms, and commended the staff's efforts of The General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, wishing them success in maintaining the homeland's achievements.
