Bahrainis stage anti-UK demo in London

A group of Bahraini opposition activists gathered in front of the British Prime Minister David Cameron\'s residence in Downing Street in London on Tuesday to protest the recent statements of the UK ambassador to Manama.The protesters condemned the UK envoy for calling the Bahraini opposition \"terrorists\".The Bahraini protesters also condemned Britain\'s double-standard policies towards their popular protests across Bahrain and also London\'s support for the al-Khalifa regime.Some demonstrators carried pictures of the Bahraini martyrs killed by the al-Khalifa\'s security forces, while others held up pictures of political prisoners in the tiny Persian Gulf island.Anti-government protesters have been holding peaceful demonstrations across Bahrain since mid-February 2011, calling for an end to the al-Khalifa dynasty\'s over-40-year rule.Violence against the defenseless people escalated after a Saudi-led conglomerate of police, security and military forces from the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) member states - Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar - were dispatched to the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom on March 13, 2011, to help Manama crack down on peaceful protestors.So far, tens of people have been killed, hundreds have gone missing and thousands of others have been injured.The protesters say they will continue holding anti-regime demonstrations until their demand for the establishment of a democratically elected government is met.
