New York - QNA

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned Wednesday's bombing of the national security building in Damascus, a spokesperson said Thursday. "The Secretary-General reiterates that acts of violence committed by any party are unacceptable and a clear violation of the six-point plan," he said in a statement. The spokesperson also pointed out to Secretary General's deep concern over the current situation in Syria and his emphasis on prompting the implementation of Kofi Annan's six-point plan to halt violence there. "The deteriorating situation in Syria underscores the extreme urgency for all sides to stop armed violence in all its forms, implement the six point plan and move swiftly towards a political dialogue and a peaceful democratic Syrian-led transition," he added. Furthermore, Ban called on the security council to "take collective and effective action on the basis of UN Charter obligations and in view of the seriousness of the situation on the ground", spokes person said. On Wednesday, Syria's former Defense Minister, Gen. Dawoud Rajiha and former Deputy Defense Minister, Gen. Assef Shawkat were killed in a suicide bombing which targeted the national security building in Damascus during a cabinet meeting.
