Ban: Srian attacks amount to crimes against humanity

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has warned Syria’s attacks on civilians could amount to crimes against humanity. Speaking in Vienna on Thursday Mr Ban said that neighborhoods in Syria are being shelled indiscriminately and hospitals used as torture centers. “We see almost a certain crime against humanity,” AP quoted him as saying. In this context, the term was first used by UN Human Rights chief Navi Pillay. She has also complained about Syria’s crackdown on civilian protesters.
