
Dhaka has given its consent to a proposal of China for the construction of a transnational highway connecting the Indian state of West Bengal and the southwestern Chinese city of Kunmin through Myanmar and Bangladesh, a minister said here Wednesday. Bangladeshi Communications Minister Obaidul Quader made the announcement after meeting Chinese Vice Minister for Communications Feng Zhenglin who arrived in Dhaka Tuesday. He said, \"We\'ve given our consent to the Chinese government\'s proposal for constructing a highway to connect the West Bengal of India with Kunming through Myanmar and Bangladesh.\" The minister did not elaborate on the proposal.
