
Bangladesh's ruling Awami League party has secured a huge majority in Bangladesh parliamentary election winning 232 seats among 147 constituencies. Meanwhile, Jatiya Party (JP) won 13 seats while Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) won two and Workers Party (WP) won four seats. Independent candidates won in 12 constituencies. One candidate each from Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF), Bangladesh Tarikat Federation and a rebel AL candidate came victorious. At least 18 people were killed in separate incidents on election day which started on Sunday. Voting was halted at more than 150 polling stations. The Election Commission decided to hold the polls again in eight constituencies.
