Water and Energy Minister, Gebran Bassil, stressed the need for a "Planning Ministry" in the country, in order to ensure that public works are organized and executed, once and for all. He regretted herein that infrastructure works are not implemented on a basis of a unified and comprehensive organized plan. Bassil's words came during his wide meeting with consultants and contractors for water projects held at his Batroun Residence on Saturday. The meeting came following a tour on a number of roads and water projects in the region of Batroun. On the other hand, and in response to a question over upcoming parliamentary elections, Bassil considered that the recent Tripoli incident reveals clearly which sides actually want elections to take place as scheduled versus the sides who are against said elections. He also praised herein the wise and peaceful reaction of the Karameh Family to the incident; thus, preventing Tripoli from being dragged into strife, he noted. Bassil expressed fear of attempts to hinder the possibility of reaching an electoral law that allows for proper representation, which would result in political stability in the country. "Political stability can be ensured through proper representation, justice, balance and equality between citizens, which thus leads to security stability," noted Bassil.
