
A total of Five Iraqi policemen were killed, while three others were injured, and eight civilians were wounded following a suicide bombing, that attacked a security center in the city of Mosul in the northern part of the country. A security source in Naynawa Operations Command told KUNA on Wednesday that a booby trapped car, driven by a suicide bomber exploded earlier today at the headquarters of the federal police in Al-Yarmouk area, west of Mosul city, which resulted in the killing of five policemen and the injuring of three others, and the wounding of eight civilians. An armed attack took place following the suicide bombing, during which militants used light and medium weapons, while a police unit fought back, and the attackers escaped, a source from the Iraqi police said. The incident scene was cordoned off by police forces, while casualties were transferred to a close hospital to receive treatment, while bodies of the killed people were taken to forensic medicine department. Naynawa governorate is 405 kilometers far from the capital, and suffers from a large number of armed attacks against local security forces and civilians. This blast came after only one day from the killing of 60 Iraqis, while injuring more than 200 others in the most violent explosions during which 20 booby trapped cars were used. Meanwhile five soldiers in the Iraqi army were killed in northern Baghdad, after attacking their military convoy in northern Baghdad. A source in the Iraqi police told KUNA today that three explosive devices exploded consecutively as a military convoy passed by Al Tarmiyah area, north of Baghdad. The attack resulted in the killing of five soldiers, while injuring seven others with various types of wounds, and they were transferred to a local hospital to receive treatment. Al-Tarmiyah and other adjacent towns in the outskirts of Baghdad witness the operation of (Thar Al-Shuhada) carried out by the Iraqi forces seeking terrorists.
