An American soldier serving with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) has been killed in a bomb blast in southern Afghanistan, Press TV reports. ISAF said in a statement on Tuesday that the US trooper was killed by “an improvised explosive device (IED)” in southern part of the country. On Monday at least three US-led soldiers were killed in a militant attack in the city of Khost in eastern Afghanistan. Statistics by the independent website icasualties.org show that at least 348 foreign troops, most of them Americans, have lost their lives in Afghanistan so far in 2012. A total of 566 foreign forces were also killed in 2011. However, 2010 remains the deadliest year for foreign military casualties with a death toll of 711.
