Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika on Tuesday held a round of talks with Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti, who started a visit to Algeria. Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal also met with the visiting Italian premier. Monti’s talks with Bouteflika and Sellal discussed means of enhancing relations between the two countries, in addition to regional and international issues of mutual concern. Monti’s visit to Algeria comes as part of the 2nd Algerian-Italian summit, which takes place according to the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Neighborly Relations the two countries signed in 2003. The first summit was held in Sardinia, Italy in 2007.
