The UN-Arab League (AL) joint special representative to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi on Thursday reiterated here a call to stop fighting in Syria during Eid al- Adha holiday as he warned the crisis would spread to the region, Jordan\'s official Petra news agency reported. In a meeting with Jordan\'s Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, Brahimi said if the fighting stops and truce is implemented, it will be possible to launch a true cease-fire and to start a political process that helps the Syrians resolve problems they face. \"If the Syrian crisis continues then its impacts will not be restricted inside Syria, but will affect the region and the world, \" said Brahimi. The international envoy had proposed that the Syrian government forces and rebel fighters hold fire during the Islamic feast holiday of Eid al-Adha that starts on Oct. 26. For his part, the Jordanian minister said the kingdom is one of the most affected states by the Syrian crisis as the number of Syrians fleeing into Jordan continues to grow, highlighting the impact of hosting Syrian refugees on his country. He added that Jordan is keen on Syria\'s stability and security and its territorial integrity. Meanwhile, Jordan\'s King Abdullah II also warned Thursday at a meeting with Moroccan King Mohammed VI in Amman against the dangerous consequences of the Syrian crisis on all countries in the region, according to Petra. The Jordanian leader reiterated his call for a political solution to end the crisis in Syria, and urged the international community to continue supporting Jordan, which hosts more than 200, 000 Syrians currently.
