
Britain is pushing for NATO warships to be deployed alongside EU naval assets to prevent a new influx of migrants reaching Europe from Libya, The Times reported on its website Tuesday.
British Secretary of State for Defense Michael Fallon is expected to raise the expansion of NATO's mission in the Aegean to the southern Mediterranean at a meeting of EU ministers tonight on the crisis in Libya.
Britain has sent a 150-strong task force of Royal Marines to the Mediterranean in preparation for intensified operations against Libyan people smugglers sending migrants to Europe.
