Britain and Russia call for resolving the Syrian crisis by political means and convening the Geneva-2 conference, Foreign Secretary William Hague said on Tuesday. Britain does not give up an idea of holding the international conference on Syria, Hague said, adding that Britain’s foreign partners, including Russia, backed this position. At the same time, the British foreign secretary said the world community’s efforts were insufficient to create conditions for convening the conference on Syria. In order to organise the forum, real efforts should be exerted, Hague said. Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, “There is no alternative to political resolution on Syria.”
