Britain to pay compensation to Kenyans

Britain gets ready for paying compensation to thousands of Kenyan people who were tortured back in1950s in its ex-colony Kenya during the suppression of the riot against the Mau Mau guerillas. With the compensation to Kenya high on the agenda, British press calls attention to the possibility of some other former British colonies\' similar demands for compensation. London High Court accepted last year the request of three complaining Kenyan citizens to file a law suit on the grounds that they had been tortured by British colonial officials. The Kenyan plaintiffs Paulo Muoka Nzili was emasculated under custody, Wambuga Wa Nyingi was beaten many times and Jane Muthoni Mara was subjected to sexual harassment, as they claimed. Thousands of Kenyans were killed during the riot in Kenya whilst it was under British rule in 1950s and 60s. Kenya gained its independence back in 1963.
