Burundian Foreign Minister Alain Aime Nyamitwe on Tuesday asserted that the River Nile is very important for Egypt and that Egypt cannot be imagined without the Nile.
The Burundian minister's statements were made at a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry who appreciated cooperation with Burundi in the Nile water file and its importance for the Egyptian people.
Shoukry said that Burundi has been supporting Egypt's rights to the Nile water, saying such cooperation would achieve the interests of the two countries.
For his part, the Burundian official said that his country backs the water rights of Egypt and that the two countries share the same viewpoints towards the Nile water issue.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Nyamitwe on Tuesday in the presence of Shoukry.
