Charbel: Consensus essential for elections

Caretaker Interior and Municipalities Minister, Marwan Charbel, said that consensus is a very important element to hold the upcoming elections. \"Proportionality law is the best bill proposed by the interior ministry,\" Charbel said, calling on the Parliament to discuss it seriously. The minister expected that all sides would agree on the proportionality bill but with some amendments. Charbel told the \"Voice of Lebanon-Freedom and Dignity\" radio on Thursday that \"some people have applied their nomination to the ministry and I cannot prevent anyone from this step, because there are no constitutional and legal measures to prevent this step.\" He urged all sides to gain time and discuss draft laws which have been discussed previously and not to start from scratch, demanding to place a bill agreed on by the 128 deputies in order to maintain security.
