China against chemical weapons in Syria

China opposes the use of chemical weapons and military intervention in Syria, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hong Lei said. Hong added that his country strongly rejects the development, production and use of chemical weapons by any country, noting that his country’s opposing stance towards military intervention in Syria remains unchanged. The Chinese official called on the international community to adopt a responsible stance and be committed to a political resolution for the crisis. He made the remarks in response to media reports claiming that Western countries are getting ready to launch a strict response if the Syrian government was to set chemical or biological weapons.
