China, Argentina FM call for closer cooperation

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with his Argentine counterpart Hector Timerman on Thursday, calling for closer cooperation between the two countries. Wang said China pursues peaceful development instead of hegemonism,adding that all countries, big or small, are equal in the international community. "China pursues the principles of mutual respect and equality," Wang said, adding that China's development will bring opportunities to countries all over the world, including Argentina. Wang said China is willing to make joint efforts with Argentina to boost bilateral strategic partnership, enhance China-Latin America cooperation and continue to coordinate in major international affairs. Timerman said China is playing an important and positive role in international affairs as a responsible permanent member of the UN Security Council. Argentina attaches great importance to bilateral ties and expects to build a closer political and financial partnership with China, aimed at strengthening cooperation between China and Latin America, Timerman said.
