New York - QNA

China called on the international community to keep Human Right’s issues out of politics and to reject the application of double standards on these rights . “International human rights endeavor continues to be plagued by double standard and politicization,”China’s news agency (Xinhua) quoted Chinese deputy permanent representative to the UN, Wang Min, as saying while addressing the Third Committee of the 67th Session of the UN General Assembly on human rights on Thursday. “Some countries are keen on criticizing developing countries and interfering in their internal affairs by using human rights as a pretext,” the Chinese official added. He said some countries choose not to tackle their own Human Rights violations yet they pressure developing countries with country-specific human rights issues and creating confrontation in the international human rights arena. He expressed China’s rejection to such acts and urged “those countries to reflect more on their own record and stop their self-righteous lecturing and finger-pointing.” The official noted that China also urges the international community to eliminate all forms of discrimination, protect vulnerable groups to ensure equality and dignity for all, and further improve the work of the UN in the field of human rights. Earlier on Monday, China rejected the public statements of UN’s high commissioner for human rights, Navi Pillay, on Tibet that urges China to “seriously” consider international bodies’ recommendations on human rights issues in Tibet. Foreign Ministry spokesman,Hong Lei replied to pillay’s statements saying that the religious, political, economic and cultural rights of people in Tibet are guaranteed, and they are enjoying economic growth, social stability and a settled life. He said China hopes the high commissioner would maintain a fair stance, and stop issuing remarks interfering in China’s domestic affairs.
