China called for caution in both word and deed from all sides, to avoid escalating tension on the Korean peninsula, a foreign ministry spokesperson said in Beijing.
Leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un said that the country plans to test a nuclear warhead and several ballistic rockets capable of carrying nuclear warheads. "China's position on that issue is clear. We urge all sides to fulfill requirements of the UN security council, be prudent with their words and actions, and not take any action that would worsen tensions on the Korean peninsula," foreign ministry spokesperson Hong Lei said at a press briefing, according to China's (Xinhua) News Agency.
He reaffirmed China's willingness to implement the UN Security Council's resolutions concerning sanctions against the DPRK, saying that the government would inform those affected in a timely manner.
