
All 16 who died in blaze in a shoe factory in east China's Zhejiang Province have been identified through their DNA, local authorities said on Saturday. The dead include 11 from Guizhou Province, two from Anhui and one each from Jiangxi, Yunnan and Chongqing Municipality, according to the publicity department of Wenling City. The fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon at Taizhou Dadong Shoes Co., Ltd. in Yangjiawei Village in Wenling, leaving 16 people dead, six men and 10 women, and five others injured. More than 20 people were rescued. Two of the plant's owners and one manager were detained on Wednesday. The cause of the fire is being investigated. The Wenling government launched a thorough work safety overhaul in the aftermath. As of Saturday, a total of 2,458 companies in the city have been suspended and ten people were detained for violation of fire-control regulations.
