China, US agree on denuclearizing Korean peninsula

China says it is committed to maintaining peace and stability and advancing the denuclearization process on the Korean Peninsula. Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi made this remarks on Saturday during his meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry. Reiterating the stance of the Chinese government on the issue, he called for the settling of the problem peacefully through dialogue and consultation. Kerry praised China’s stance on supporting the goal of denuclearization on the peninsula. He said that China had made an unprecedented joint statement to abide by the international community’s resolve of denuclearizing the peninsula.
