
Chinese Ambassador in Cairo Song Aiguo voiced happiness over the achievements made by the Egyptian government over the past two years, asserting that Egypt has started to restore its regional and international influence and relations between Egypt and China brought fruitful outcome in various fields.
The ambassador's remarks were made at a ceremony marking the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Egypt and China.
The event was attended by Minister of Investment Dalia Khorshid, Minister of Culture Helmi Namnam, former prime minister Essam Sharaf and a galaxy of senior officials and diplomats.
Song said Egypt is the biggest trade partner for China as the trade volume hit dlrs 12.9 billion. The Chinese investments in Egypt reached dlrs 6 billion with the number of Chinese companies operating in Egypt exceeded 80 companies.
He also thanked the efforts of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping for giving a new impetus to bilateral relations and economic cooperation, adding that partnership relations have entered a new strategic phase.
The diplomat cited the signing by Jinping on a five-year framework agreement to enhance comprehensive strategic partnership, a memorandum of understanding on reviving the Silk Road as well as launching the cultural year festivities between the two countries.
