The Civil and Political Rights Committee convened for its second meeting last Thursday. Jameela Ali Salman chaired the meeting, in the presence of members Farid Ghazi Rafea and Abduljabbar Ahmed Al-Tayyeb. The session approved minutes of the previous meeting and discussed a proposed mechanism to deal with the civil society institutions. The panel also spotlighted national legislations relating to human rights and drew up recommendations to be submitted to the commissioners\' meeting, scheduled to be held late this month. The Civil and Political Rights Committee is an offshoot of the National Institution of Human Rights.
