The Independent Higher Authority for Elections (IHAE) is examining claims regarding infringements committed by some candidate lists, including illegal funding of the campaign, non-compliance with election silence and the use of foreign funds, IHAE member, Ridha Torkhani told TAP news agency on Tuesday. Mr. Torkhani said that Article 70 of the election decree-law allows IHAE to reveal infringements, particularly corruption and use of foreign funds. "The election decree is clear regarding foreign funding, but does not incriminate the use of foreign media to promote election programmes, giving the IHAE room for maneuvre," he specified. However, Mr. Torkhani did not rule out the possibility of invalidating the list of the "Popular Petition" for having continued its propaganda via "Al Mustakillah" Channel, adding that several lawyers filed a relevant complaint to the IHAE. In a statement to TAP news agency, Hachemi El Hamdi, Chairman of the "Popular Petition" said his lists did not break the law since he was the only one to have been invited by the "Al Mustakillah" channel during the campaign which can not be considered as an infringement as he is not candidate in the Constituent Assembly.
