Colorado family not allowed to put \'Jesus\' on headstone

A family of a pastor\'s wife who recently died in Sterling, Colo., said the city wouldn\'t allow them to put \"Jesus\" on the woman\'s headstone. Linda Baker\'s family wanted to put the word Jesus surrounded by the ichthys, the fish-like symbol of Christianity, on her headstone, but were told by cemetery manager Shawn Rewoldt that they would have to leave Jesus off because some might find it offensive, KUSA-TV, Denver, reported. \"They felt that the name Jesus would be offensive to some,\" said Stacy Adams, Baker\'s daughter-in-law. The city of Sterling initially backed Rewoldt\'s decision, but later backtracked after being pressured by the public in a series of Facebook posts. \"This gentleman thought it may have been objectionable to someone because of the Christian connotation,\" Sterling city manager Joe Kiolbasa said of Rewoldt. \"It will be allowed in the future.\" \"I\'m sorry that it took this to do it. But I hope it sends a message,\" Adams said. \"In their misguided attempt to offend no one, they ended up offending many.\"
