A senior commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps stressed that the West, the US in particular, has failed to reach its objectives in the confrontation against the Islamic Revolution thanks to the resistance shown by the Iranian nation and armed forces. \"They wanted to plunder the wealth of all countries and decide for the policies and culture of all countries, but they have experienced heavy defeat from the (Islamic) Revolution and have been forced to retreat and accept the Revolution\'s demands on all scenes,\" Lieutenant Commander of the IRGC Brigadier General Hossein Salami said, addressing a gathering of Basij (volunteer forces) veterans here in Tehran on Sunday. He pointed to the West\'s failures in other countries, and stated, \"They wanted to build an American Iraq but now an Islamic Iraq is flourishing. It is true in other countries as well.\" Salami further said that the Revolutionary generations in countries like Saudi Arabia have turned into a nightmare for the US and Zionist regime of Israel. Earlier this week, Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei stressed that popular uprisings and revolutions in the region are backed by deep roots in Islam and Islamic identity. \"The great movement of nations signifies that they are awake, and based on massive and unquestionable realities this awakening enjoys Islamic background,\" Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing a meeting with Foreign Ministry top officials, heads of the Iranian missions abroad and ambassadors on Wednesday. Ayatollah Khamenei further stated that developments in the world show that the political alignment in the world is experiencing essential change.
