Confrontations Thursday erupted between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians in al-Masharqa, an area adjacent to the Ibrahimi mosque in central Hebron, causing several suffocation cases among Palestinians, according to WAFA correspondent. He told WAFA that soldiers raided the area, provoking the angry residents, who were mourning the killing of 17-year-old Mohammad al-Salaymeh, who was shot dead by an Israeli soldier at a checkpoint in the area late Wednesday, leading to confrontations. Al-Salaymeh, who suffers from hearing impairment and whose birthday fill on Wednesday December 12th, was shot and killed instantly on his birthday while he was crossing a checkpoint on his way to buy cake and pastries for his birthday party; an Israeli soldier fired several bullets directly towards him, killing him instantly. Forces fired acoustic and tear gas canisters at the angry residents, causing several suffocation cases among them. They also arrested two Palestinian youths and several students from a nearby school.
