Court annuls custody extension in Bolotnaya riots case

The appeals board of the Moscow City Court on Thursday annulled the resolution to extend custody of Bolotnaya Square riots case suspect Vladimir Akimenkov to July 6. \"Today, the Moscow City granted my complaint against the resolution by the trial court to extend Akimenkov\'s arrest,\" the suspect\'s lawyer, Dmitry Agranovsky, told Itar-Tass. Under the previous custody extension which is still effective, Akimenkov will remain under arrest until June 10. \"If the case materials have been passed to the court before that date, a judge will handle the issue on the measure of restraint, otherwise, it will be the investigator,\" the lawyer said. The criminal case is now at the Prosecutor General\'s Office which is expected to endorse the indictment. The suspects are Andrei Barabanov, Stepan Zimin, Denis Lutskevich, Yaroslav Belousov, Artyom Savelov, Sergei Krivov, Alexandra Dukhanina and Alexei Polikhovich. They are accused under Article 212, Part 2 /participation in mass disturbances/ and Article 318, Part 1 /use of force on government representative/. Vladimir Akimenkov, Nikolai Kavkazsky and Leonid Kovyazin are accused of participation in mass disturbances. Maria Baronova is accused under Article 212, Part 3 /calls for active disobeying the demands by government representative and mass disturbances/. The investigators said the defendants had thrown stones and pieces of asphalt at police in Moscow\'s Bolotnaya Square on May 6, broke through police cordon, hit police and called for riots. Meanwhile, the investigation into the criminal case against the riots masterminds Sergei Udaltsov, Leonid Razvozzhayev and Givi Targamadze, and four riot participants Alexander Margolin, Dmitry Rukavishnikov, Ilya Gushchin and Yelena Kokhtaryova is continuing.
