The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), an entity of BiH, on Monday signed a protocol with Croatia over cooperation in acquisition and transplantation of human organs, local media reported. Rusmir Mesihovic, FBiH health minister, said the agreement would benefit citizens of FBiH with quality treatment. "Even one life saved from this protocol will be a great thing," he said. The protocol was signed for a period of two years, based on a memorandum of cooperation signed by Croatia and FBiH two years ago. FBiH hopes to learn expertise in surgical procedures and post-transplant treatment from Croatia in human organ transplantation. Croatia is the world's leading country in terms of the number of kidney and liver transplants. With 33 effective organ donors per one million inhabitants, it ranks first in the world.
